What’s a real conservative theses days within the GOP is quite different from the days of Regan. Tea Party members verses Neo-Cons and they still have problems with moderate Republicans.
Obama will win BECAUSE of Republican extremism, and the damage that the tea party is doing by splintering the GOP.
The fact is most Americans are moderate conservatives. They aren’t Obamabots or Obama worshippers, but they see the likes of Palin, tea-baggers and the extremism that the GOP has become and vote the other way. They say: well, Obama may not be perfect, but at least he isn’t insane. At least, that’s what happened in the last election.
But if the GOP moves to the center they have a chance.
P.S. OK, fair enough, Tea PARTY folks is the correct term and I shouldn’t say “baggers”. But the fact remians that the only folks offended by that term are are tea partiers themselves. They are not a voting block that would ever vote for anything other than a Republican anyway, so they just aren’t important when it comes to changing the GOP fortunes. The GOP needs the “big tent” opf Reagan years and they could have it… but so long as Palin and the Tea Party crowd rules the GOP… ain’t happenin. I don’t say it to be mean. Nader hurt the Dems… Perot hurt repubs, and Palin and the Tea Pary hurts the GOP, both by siphoning off GOP support, and by making the party look extreme to the moderate majority. Around we go…

continuing to use phrases like “tea-baggers” is what will cost the dems the next election if they’re not careful. Your quote isn’t without a sense of Irony either as it’s blatantly vile, acerbic, and vindictive… all the signs of democratic extremism.
Overconfidence from the Scott Brown upset and running a candidate like Palin would cost the Republicans the next election. It’s anybody’s guess at this point. I would wager a ’94 style overhaul in the house & senate in the mid-terms, but the presidential is anybody’s guess right now and depends on a great number of factors.
Oh… and if Iran detonates a nuke or Israel decides to preemptively nuke Iran it pushes things further in favor of the Republicans, but still doesn’t guarantee them a win.
P.S. I love Palin, I think she did great for Alaska, but she’s unelectable. No matter the reasons why she left Alaska office early, the fact that she did, that one fact alone, is enough cannon fodder to prevent her getting the presidency.
I doubt he will run again, but if he does, I really doubt if he will get even the 49 Electoral votes that carter did. Then again, california has more than that, so I guess he will get at least 55 or so, but he will not carry more than 6 States, carter had 7.
I predict the GOP will win 2/3 to 1/3, regardless of who runs.
Yeah, Obama is going down in flames if he keeps shoving the Health Care bill down our throats. We don’t want it and he could care less.

Cute but very childish as well.

I’d definitely vote for the conservative.
I don’t think it’s necessary for a “real” conservative to run, I think Mickey Mouse has a better chance than nobama.
