Chris Christie, Obama & Shared Sacrifice: Where’s the Wealthy’s Share?
majority.fm Jυѕt lіkе many οf thе country’s mοѕt prominent political figures, Chris Christie іѕ insisting thаt thе public mυѕt gеt used tο sacrifice. Thіѕ means giving up ѕοmе οf thе benefits, lіkе Social Security аnd Medicare, thаt thеу hаνе come tο rely upon. Thе shared sacrifice mіght аlѕο mean thаt middle-income people hаνе tο pay higher taxes. Telling a country thаt іѕ suffering frοm near double-digit unemployment thаt іt mυѕt gеt used tο sacrifice mіght seem a bit wеіrd, bυt polite Washington circles hаνе never hаd much connection tο thе lives οf normal people. via DEAN BAKER tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com
most states have failed to place that pension contribution into those pension funds…the rich have benefited nobody else has..a stout fuck like Christi should give up his salary to help the state budget
christie grabbed the public sector unions by the balls and showed people who they really are!!! hell ya, keep it up!!!
Who’s this clown? No wonder the left never makes any inroads in talk radio.
Anyone who wants a pension should be free to go to another job. The problem with unions of all kinds is that they’re full of bone idle people who expect others to cover their health care and retirement for them.
Want to make more money? Go to school, get a better job, save your own money.
Gov. Christie Whitman took from the Union’s pension fund to make it look like Republicans can run government lowering taxes while using the pension money to make up for lack of incoming tax revenue and nothing happened to her because it only effected the middle class where as Bernie Maddoff who did the same thing was arrested because it effected the wealthy. New Jersey has been in debt ever since and Democratic governors have been trying to fix the budget ever since.
Sam could not be more right. What exactly do they mean by “shared sacrifice” bc I haven’t heard anything the rich are sacrificing. Seems more like the rich are engorging themselves while the rest of us sacrifice more every day. At some point this rigged game will end
@UDPride the top 2% took all the money, you dumb piece of shit.
If the rich do so small to sacrifice, then eliminating them from the tax table completely would have small to no economic impact, yet I never hear that being suggested.
The top 2% of wage earners pay for half of government. The bottom 50% pay for zero government. Those that want the rich to pay more have never run their own business, dont know S Corps, taxation, earnings, salaries, dividends, depreciating assets, liabilities, regulations, withholdings, and other business concepts.
The wealthys share is 70% of all the taxes paid. I do not know liberals mindset that it’s the governments money and to leave the rich what they reckon they need. If you notice it’s the rich liberals that are evading taxes. Remember Obama trying to get a cabinet together? All liberals, and ALL didn’t pay ther “honest share”
@DisturbedHavok
yo idiot im talking about new jersey
@LoneGunman90 sure because the high taxes have forced many companies and jobs and residents to leave these states. Taxes become public funds and public funds are wasted because it is “other people’s money”. It has never worked and it never will.
@honibear4u Because NJ and NY are really the worst of states in the recession. OH WAIT.
@0n1n3 your a fool “trickle down economics” is the term used to describe neo-liberal economics, that is the system that combines full scale privatisation with small to no regulation which frees the rich to “make wealth” which some how helps everyone all evidence to the contrary be damned. The GOP didn’t invent anything, they and Milton Friedman copied British 19th century economic policy championed by Liberal PM Gladstone.
Taxes were slashed all across America in the late ’90s and early ’00s, mostly reducing taxes on the wealthy. This action was justified by the surpluses that were generated by the Clinton economy under the assumption that it would last forever. It didn’t. The first thing we need to do is restore the tax rates that were in place during those excellent economic years. This will increase spending and make jobs, as well as adequately fund our governments.
@DisturbedHavok raising corporate taxes will simply kill jobs. Raising taxes does not work in real life. NJ, and NY are living proof of that
@honibear4u So Bill Clinton was a Conservative President to the right of Ronald Reagan? Shouldn’t conservatives be wanting to name airports and interstate highways after him instead then?
@yalex2120 Over the past 8 years we’ve tried taxing? Are you fucking serious? Over the past 8 years taxes were cut by the Bush administration and Republicans BELOW where Clinton had them. It didn’t work.
By all means, call this “idiot” up and challenge him. I dare you.
@honibear4u Well that’s a small bit disingenuous in that CA’s government system is a bit fucked up (they have a state legislature, but do direct voting on say, tax hikes – so people want more government programs, but don’t want to pay more in taxes in the end to pay for it).
Tell you what though, I’d fully support ending the state income tax here in Indiana and doing like Alaska – getting all revenue from corporate taxes. I wouldn’t argue with that.
@CommissarRed Where did you get that “neo-liberal” phrase from? trickle down economics came from the GOP. So while you’re running around pointing fingers, make sure you stop and take a look in the mirror.
keynesian economics is a joke and so is you and your stupid program
Christie said “walked into the room” he’s never walked anywhere in his life, he waddled into the room and, like a perverse “anti-clause” he’s plotting on stealing from the state union workers. (ho-ho-ho) …
*fewer* cops.
Chris Christie once again makes me ashamed to be from New Jersey
You go liberal and you go bankrupt!
NJ is the highest taxed state in the country and it is tanking. So are other highly taxed states like CA, NY, …. All liberal. You go libera
